The Black Horse is situated in West Street on the A25 going towards Dorking (see location map) within a conservation area located on the edge of Reigate Heath. The heath comprises 120 acres and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest owned by Reigate and Banstead Borough Council and enjoyed by walkers, golfers, and sportsmen alike with many bridleways crossing the heath. The heath supports an abundance of plants, trees and wild life common to native heath land and is carefully managed by the Golf Club who lease part of it from Reigate and Banstead Council who continue to maintain the delicate balance of the heath for the enjoyment of Reigate residents and others. |
